About Us

Meet Nicole & Derek!

Nicole was born and raised in Frederick by parents that grew up on farms and small business owners. Hard work, family values, gardening and respecting nature were instilled into her at a very young age! She has always enjoyed working with her parents and learning from their experiences as well as growing herself and her future. She owns two small businesses as well as works full time, always accepting support from loved ones to make this journey possible! Within Nunya Beeswax, she does most of the beekeeping and product making herself and loves nothing more than when a customer shares how much they love the products.

Derek was born and raised in Hagerstown and is a fourth generation farmer focusing on grains, works full time, as well as a small business owner. Growing up on the farm, he's learned many valuable trades and skills, hard work to say the least, and is dedicated to providing solutions to support the community.
Within Nunya Beeswax, his attention to detail, as well as his numerous other skills, makes him critical for branding and marketing vision, brings the patience and long term vision, and the manual labor as needed.

Nicole and Derek met in 2018 during their studies at Mount St. Mary's in classes where they both obtained their Masters Degrees in business and started dating in 2021. Together they are driven to building this brand and their legacy's for their future and others!

Taking Care of the Girls!

Honey Bees will mostly take care of themselves. But sometimes you have to help them stay strong! 💪🏼 This could be by feeding them or treating them for parasites and pest management. It means inspecting all of the hives at different frequencies to check them out!
